“Love Joanna” tells the story of a young artist, Joanna, navigating her way through a tumultuous relationship with lover and art-representative, Blue, from who she eventually finds freedom and her own voice. At the story’s close, Joanna becomes one with her art and takes on the form of a white butterfly rising from flooding blue waters. The short film blends two worlds of real life and paper stop-motion with handmade paper props, room decorations, and sets.

“Love Joanna” was created in the summer of 2022 as a final project for a storytelling elective course at New York University.
